Email to get updates on Basenji litters!
Central Texas Basenjis has been breeding basenjis since 2020. We began breeding after we fell in love with our very first basenji. We breed no more than 2 dams at a time to ensure each puppy gets the best care possible. All our Puppies are AKC or CKC registered.
All puppies are raised IN our home as part of the family until they are ready for their fur-ever homes. They have daily interactions with their littermates, both parents, another adult female Basenji, 2 cats, and 4 boys aged 12-18. The puppies are all dewormed on schedule, biweekly from 2-8 weeks. Puppies also receive their first 2 combination vaccines.
Basenjis consider themselves family. They do require time and attention. If socialized early, they do well and become well-rounded dogs. Our puppies have ample opportunity to socialize with other basenji puppies, adult basenjis, and many children.
Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Basenji's larynx is shaped differently than those in most dogs so cannot produce a bark. They can make sounds that include yodels and whines although most do not vocalize often. African Tribes that use basenjis for hunting will tie bells around them.
Basenjis will grow to about 22-24 pounds. Males stand about 17" at the shoulder and females about 16". They are slightly smaller than a typical medium sized dog when full grown and live 12-16 years
YES! The basenji is hypoallergenic, have low dander, shed very little, and tend to groom themselves like cats! Basenjis also do not drool!
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
